Summary
The ongoing COVID-19 pandemic has forced us to move from in-person to virtual REU sites.
This panel will explore approaches for hosting a virtual REU site that retains some of the unique
experiences of an in-person site. The panelists, all of whom hosted virtual sites in 2020, will
share their experiences moving from an in-person to virtual site, highlight challenges they faced
and novel approaches they took to overcome these challenges, and describe some of the benefits of
a virtual site. The panel will provide an opportunity for audience members to ask questions of
the panelists with the aim to help them host successful and engaging virtual sites.
